What is Narrative?

This is how a story is put together and set up into three different sections which are Act 1,2,3 or the beginning, middle and end.

Act 1- Is the initial characterisation, which means describing who the characters and what there purpose in the movie. We then have a set up of the movie and the problem is introduced into the movie. Problem could be anything.

Act 2- Conflict, this is where the problem is being faced but not solved. There is also a further development of characters.

Act 3- Resolution, This when the characters now solve the problem. The characters now change for example there personality's and the means.

Opening Scene

The opening scene for our movie is based on the genre of thriller. We have already discussed location, props, camera angles and mise en scene. The location of the scene will be at Beckie's nan's house because of the old looking house and the tree's surrounding it will make it perfect for the shots we are looking for.
The roles have already been given to each of us as a group decision it will be Anna shooting and myself and Beckie as actors.
The story line is simple; a women is looks through a window and she is crying while holding a key which is around her neck on thin chain, we then have a shot of a man standing in the distance behind a tree who is then walks closer to the house. Once the man is at the door of the house the women then moves slowly watching her back into a different room. She knows she is now alone and when she turns the man is stood there behind her with a gun, his hands are shaking and he pushes her to the floor. There is not a lot of speech in this scene apart from the man shouting asking for the key and her shouting back refusing to give him the key. He then panics and shoot her in the leg and he takes the key by force. The closing shots are of him running out of the house and into the distance.
